I’m glad you are here. Considering engaging in therapy tells me you are a courageous person wanting to examine, explore, learn and unlearn, and try new things. My name is Jency Brogden. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with nearly two decades of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients. I choose to be a therapist because I feel it is an honor to witness the hearts and stories of the people I work with. I am touched by the authentic human connection and vulnerability shared within the therapy space. Personally, I know first hand how engaging in therapy allows us to see ourselves in ways we haven’t before, and to transform into the kind of person we want to be living the life we want to live. It is this experience of therapy that I want to share with – and create for – others. Change is possible and within reach, and you do not have to do it alone. You weren’t meant to. We grow and change in connection with others.
I provide individual psychotherapy for adults (18+). I am LGBQT friendly. There are many approaches to psychotherapy and it’s important to find a therapist to match your needs. I most frequently draw from psychoanalytic traditions, which emphasizes self awareness and insight. I also draw from emotionally focused and attachment theory orientations. Beyond the specific approaches to therapy, I believe the most important predictor of successful psychotherapy is the quality of the therapist-client relationship. This relationship is built on trust, connection, and acceptance of who you are and who you want to be. I aim to create an environment where you are free to be yourself fully without judgment. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and that we can work together on what matters most to you.
